The influnce of insurance companies, the FDA, and the government Medicare on our costs appears to be having a significant our our treatment. As an example, I am a cancer patient (see my website), I have just received a Medicare Summary Notice for a series of tests, the Lab charged $2,802 for the tests, Medicare approved $949.02. Since the Lab is part of the Medicare network, the Lab must accept the amount approved by Medicare. Does not appear correct to me. Either the Lab is making a great deal of money on the non-Medicare patient, or losing a great deal of money of Medicare patient. Certainly not a free market system.
