Why I chose a lemonade over Chivas Regal?

with 5 comments

Simple. Because I never knew the art of enjoying Chivas Regal. As a starter, when one just weans from nipple-bottle fluids, I wanted to learn the art of enjoying a beverage drink first. Maximize the pleasure, and as they say immerse in every sip I gulped.

Lemonade, of course doesn’t stand a chance against the biggies like Chivas Regal, but again it is the one that introduces a toddler to beverage. Without knowing the essence of a beverage, gulping down the fluid becomes worthless.

The analogy [Cheap : Poor quality] is not always applicable. In this particular case, [Cheap - get started and maximize to full potential] –> [learn the skills of maximizing better] before trying to maximize a potential biggie, often the more expensive one.

Well, that answers why I started with a Hercules Ryder Act 105 and not a Merida 40D or even more absurdly a Trek 6500D.

  1. Well Ryder Act cost me Rs 6600 /- in Kalyan. It comes with a tool kit consisting of allens.

    Merida 40V – 27K approx (Mumbai)
    Merida 20V – 23K approx (Mumbai)
    Trek 6500V – 43K approx (Mumbai)
    Trek 4300 – 28K approx (Mumbai)
    Trek 3700 – 18K approx (Mumbai)

So you guess, lemonade was a perfect appetizer (starter) to build up to the main course :-)

  2. Came to your blog through BikesZone forum :) I was so confused on buying a bike but the forum and your blog helped a lot and I could make the final list smaller !

6600 only ? I think thats good. And howz the experience so far ? Only thing I see negative = the mudguards. They could have fitted metal ones. But that can be removed easily and we can go for metal ?

  3. Thanks Din..

Yeah 6600 is the lowest that you could get for this bike. Yes you can go for metals, but I suggest that you would need them only for the monsoons. Otherwise get rid of them and those extra pounds on your bike!

    Stay light, pedal harder!

    Cheers ~

  4. OK, I checked the price for ACT 105 here in Cochin. Everywhere it is almost equal – that is Rs.7500. Might be price has gone up ? Liked ACT 110, but thats a hybrid with narrow tyres rt ? Not going for narrow tyres anyway.

Anyway planning to go some shops tomorrow to see it in real :) May buy it next weekend, but will have a detailed look tomo.

And thanks for the tip on mudguards. On second thought, you are right. Why we need those if it is not raining. And lock – that tube like one and not attached to the frame – is better rt ?

    Thanks again.

  5. May be the prices have gone up.. may be those differ in different states!

Mine is the normal tyres, not the narrow ones. Also, Even if using a tube lock, be sure to get those of good quality which will resist normal wire cutters!
